Currently the resident of Hai Bin Middle School, Xin'an, Bao'an, Shenzhen, China. I attempt to teach 7th graders and 9th graders English without pulling my hair out. They are adorable little monsters. Without a scanner I won't be updating much art until I get back to America, which should be around June or July of next year.

Til then

+Books+

  • Mood: Satisfied
  • Reading: "The Golden Compass"
  • Watching: The Last Samurai
I finished reading Aztec a while ago. It was decent, bit of a history novel and all. Long and dry but with plenty of bloody sacrifices and descriptive sex scenes to make it enjoyable.

I also finished reading "Ender's Shadow" and can proudly say that I am more in love with Bean than I ever was with Ender. Sadly it didn't produce any art like Ender did, maybe later.

I've been working on cartoon designs for these people who want to make a book on business. The cartoons are finally something that I would like to put in a book - ya know something I put effort into. Hopefully they'll like them. I might put them on here because they're not bad.

I'm on to "The Golden Compass" and I'm already much more impressed with the book than with the movie. I like how it's much more obvious that the daemons represent a person's soul than it was shown in the movie. I already have plenty of ideas for what Lyra and Mrs. Coulter will look like in my head and I'm glad that my imagination wasn't stunted by how the characters were portrayed in the movie. I'm intrigued about how the book will approach the "anti Christian themes" and if they will be stronger than the movie let on.

School has started up again and I hate to draw AGAIN. LOL I have 2 art classes, one where it's basically intermediate drawing and the other which is more of a topics class. I'm hoping that my drawing erection can stay up long enough so I can be able to not only do the drawings for both classes and actually WANT to keep drawing after class.

p.s. I love the Sklar Brothers....I think that's how you spell it.

After trekking it up north this past week I've come back with literally an armload of books....gah! I'm already in the middle of "Aztec" and "Stumbling into Happiness" one is a history/fiction and the other is philosophy. Not tooo bad but honestly I just wanna finish them :-/
NOW I've picked up "Little Women" which I've started and I wanna read more than the other two :( as well as "Middlesex" which I've started and can't wait to get into because of the rave reviews people have been giving me. Then I bought this awesome little Harry Potter "Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them" copy I HAD to buy and it's really cute because along with feeling like you're reading one of their books there's all this writing from "harry and ron" in the margins lol. I'm sure everyone knows about these but I just found it and had to laugh. hee!
I also picked up a HUGE collection of a bunch of Kurt Vonnegut (my 11h grade English teacher would be so happy SQUEE) for $7.00! as well as two other randoms for even cheaper...AND all hardcover. If anyone is ever in Oscoda there's this store on US23 called Cliffs, and is literally floor to celieing full of used books, the unorganization is unbelievable lol. A book-worm's dream!

OH YEAH and I also stole Jer's HUGE copy of Narnia.......o.O and I have to read all this before school starts or I'm never gonna want to concentrate!

My scanner is fixed....well actually the truth is that I didn't really know how to use it properly XP. Doesn't matter I have a whole bunch of new pretties up and will soon be uploading more so enjoy :D. Other than that mah birthday is coming up and I'm gonna be 22 O.o. My friend said the only thing about turning 22 is that it means you survived being 21 for a year. They were right. Also I saw POTC3 and it was AWESOME. Once I figure out how to draw those people there might be some pirate art up here. :DDD
